Applelec Lighting recently attended the launch of the Ocean Photographer of the Year exhibition at The Historic Dockyard Chatham, where our illuminated display solutions are helping bring award-winning ocean photography to life.

Featuring 116 backlit images selected from more than 15,000 entries worldwide, the internationally renowned exhibition marks the first time the showcase has been hosted in the northern hemisphere. Designed to immerse visitors in the beauty, scale and fragility of our oceans, the exhibition uses carefully controlled low-level lighting and illuminated displays to create a striking and atmospheric gallery experience.
The launch highlighted the role illuminated display solutions can play in enhancing atmosphere, presentation and visitor engagement within exhibition spaces.
“It was really great to be invited along to the Ocean Photographer of the Year launch and see the displays fully brought to life in person. We’re often so focused on delivering the lighting solution itself that you don’t always get the opportunity to experience the finished exhibition once everything comes together."

"It was also lovely to meet some of the photographers behind the images, including Kaushiik Subramaniam, and hear the stories behind how the photographs were captured. Listening to him talk about photographing grey whales in Baja California, Mexico, really reinforced just how important crisp, consistent illumination is in helping visitors connect with the detail, atmosphere and storytelling behind each photograph.” Terrie Hampson-PowellHead of Applelec Lighting

The exhibition continues Applelec Lighting’s involvement in high-profile photography and exhibition environments, including the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, where bespoke illuminated display solutions were developed to support the presentation of award-winning imagery.
