How to participate

For recycling

For qualifying products, please email recycling@applelec.co.uk to let us know what you want to send back to us. We will give you a returns code, along with an address to send it back too. Once we receive the product, the team will disassemble the product into its components parts and send them to the relevant recycling partners, taking care of the whole process for you.

For refurbishment

For qualifying products, please email recycling@applelec.co.uk and lets us know what you want refurbishing and our sales team will be back in touch with a quote for the work.

Eco Engineering

Have a project or scheme that you want to improve the sustainability on, let our team know and we can suggest eco friendly and/or energy efficient materials.

At Applelec Lighting, sustainability isn’t just about how our products are made — it’s about what happens when they reach the end of their use. As a UK manufacturer with nearly 30 years’ experience in backlighting and bespoke lighting solutions, we’re proud to create products that are efficient, safe, and built to last. But even the most reliable lighting systems eventually need replacing, and we believe recycling them should be simple.

That’s why we introduced the Applelec Recycling Scheme. A straightforward way for our customers to return eligible lighting products for responsible recycling. Whether you’re working on joinery, interiors, hospitality, or retail projects, the scheme helps reduce waste and supports sustainability goals. Because lighting should shine bright without leaving a lasting impact on the environment.

Where your products go

We’ve partnered with dedicated recycling facilities to ensure our products are dismantled and recycled responsibly. Wherever possible, materials are reused to maintain full circularity, cutting down landfill and carbon footprint. When recycling back into itself isn’t feasible, we work with carbon-neutral waste providers to make the best use of materials, such as turning waste into energy.

In addition to recycling, we also now offer refurbishment services, on specific products, to extend the products lifespan, reducing the need for replacements and in turn waste, giving our customers a new avenue to re-use and update their existing products.

We've been shortlisted!

We’re delighted to share that the Applelec Recycling Scheme has been shortlisted for the Made in Britain Impact Awards 2025 in the Sustainability Initiative of the Year category. 


This recognition highlights the positive impact the scheme is having on the signage and architectural lighting industry, helping customers reduce waste, extend the lifespan of their Applelec products, and make more sustainable choices.
