For such a prestigious and visually impactful event, the way the photography is presented plays a vital role in the audience experience. To ensure each image is displayed with clarity, precision, and professionalism, Applelec Lighting was commissioned to manufacture a series of bespoke illuminated snapframes using its high-performance Applelec LED Light Sheet. These frames were specifically designed to enhance the photographic content, with a cool 5000K colour temperature delivering crisp, clean illumination that brings out every detail and nuance in the stunning visuals on show.

Tailored entirely to the demands of the project, the construction of the frames was completely bespoke. The aluminium framework was painted to a precise RAL specification to match the overall design and aesthetic direction of the exhibition, ensuring a seamless and professional finish. Custom mounting brackets were also developed to support the exhibition’s touring format, allowing for quick and secure installation and removal as the show travels across venues both in the UK and throughout Europe. In addition to providing exceptional light quality, the Applelec LED Light Sheet incorporates energy-efficient LEDs, an important consideration in an exhibition setting where numerous illuminated frames are in continuous use. This helps to reduce overall power consumption and operational costs, while supporting the wider sustainability goals of the exhibition.
In addition to the visual and structural requirements, all power supplies used in the illuminated snapframes met UL, EU, and UKAS safety standards. This was a key requirement for the touring exhibition and ensured full compliance with safety regulations across different territories. To further support the project through the tender and specification stages, Applelec Lighting provided detailed technical drawings of both the front and rear of the finished snapframes, offering full transparency around the design and construction of the solution provided.
Having been specified for this project on previous occasions, Applelec Lighting was delighted to be once again selected to support the presentation of such meaningful and impactful work, delivering a tailored lighting solution that enhances the visual storytelling and supports the logistical needs of a touring exhibition. As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability, the company is also in the process of refurbishing the previous set of snapframes originally supplied for the exhibition. This forms part of Applelec’s award winning ECO Pledge and their newly launched recycling scheme, which offers clients the opportunity to upgrade and extend the life of their products through refurbishment, supporting a more circular and environmentally conscious approach that aligns closely with the exhibition’s own message of protecting and preserving the natural world.
