LIGHT + STONE

Interior design studio Jess Weeks Interiors selected Auragami from Applelec Lighting as part of an extensive refurbishment project for a high-end residential property in London.

Situated within Belgravia, the stunning property boasts an impressive 2500sqft space presented over four floors, however, in 2019 the building was subject to a severe flood resulting in irreparable damage. Requiring a complete renovation, Jess Weeks Interiors were appointed to redesign the mews and working closely with the client updated the space to be more aligned with a modern and flexible living style.

Every inch of the property was carefully considered to create the experience of a luxurious boutique hotel that couples high end technology with a sense of serenity. One area that encompasses all aspects of the project brief is the illuminated marble shower room. Completely innovated in application and design, the room is the perfect embodiment of tranquillity and technology working together to create the desired aesthetic.

Covering the shower room walls, alcoves and wall-hanging shelving, the hand-selected marble provides a touch of luxury and when combined with illumination, creates softly glowing, feature pieces. Integrating Auragami from Applelec Lighting, the light panel’s tight LED pitch construction producing luminous backlighting to the dense marble material further elevating the appearance, detailing and colouring of the heavy decorative stone. Selected for its highly flexible properties, Auragami was wrapped around corners as well as sharp 90° angles delivering consistent and smooth illumination to the complex location.

Jessica Weeks director of JWI said: ‘Auragami from Applelec Lighting enabled us to design with heavy stone and light. The flexibility of the panel meant light could literally be bent around corners, producing seamless illumination without any shadowing. The additional benefit of Auragami featuring an adhesive backing along with a cuttable facility enabled us to tailor the panel and simply fix the solution in place, providing an accurate application and a quick, safe install.’
