K Interiors select Applelec's Tuneable White LED Light Sheet to bring bespoke Onyx bar to life in a high-end residential project. The result is a stunning showcase of the Onyx material, highlighting its natural beauty and creating a luxurious, visually captivating space.

The Challenge: Onyx, with its stunning natural patterns and translucent quality, is a favoured choice for designers seeking to create luxurious and visually striking spaces. However, its true beauty often remains hidden without the right illumination.

This project required a lighting solution that would not only highlight the intricate details of the Onyx but also allow for flexibility in creating different ambiances.

The Solution: Applelec's Tuneable White LED Light Sheet emerged as the perfect solution. This innovative lighting product is designed to provide uniform and vibrant backlighting, enhancing the unique patterns, colours, and natural beauty of the Onyx surface. Its tuneable feature allows users to adjust the colour temperature from a warm, glowing 2200K to a crisp, cool 6500K, enabling the creation of the perfect ambiance for any mood and setting.

Design Integration: The ultra-thin design of the Applelec LED Light Sheet allows for seamless integration into various applications, making it ideal for both residential and commercial projects. Its slim profile ensures discreet installation behind surfaces, preserving the clean lines and elegance of the design. Additionally, its patented thermal management system guarantees cool running even in the tightest of spaces. Technical Implementation: To make the most of the beautiful Onyx, LEDs were placed on all four sides of the LED Light Sheet, which incorporated bespoke fixing holes. Measuring 1560mm x 1330mm, a 2mm DiBond backing was recommended to provide further stability and prevent shadowing, taking the overall depth of the panel to just 11mm.

Initially, the client considered using Applelec’s LED ribbon tape to illuminate the Onyx countertop. However, this solution would not have achieved the same glow as the back panel and would have detracted from the overall ambiance of the bar. For consistency, the same Tuneable White, Applelec LED Light Sheet was recommended with K Interiors ingeniously incorporating it by creating an Onyx shelf within which the light panel could sit, ensuring the onyx remained flush with the countertop, as per the design.

The Result: The result is a dynamic and visually engaging space that showcases the Onyx material to its full potential. With the flexibility to tune the light to create the perfect ambiance for any setting, the bespoke Onyx bar has become a focal point in this high-end residential project, embodying luxury and sophistication.
